2. The Bamboo-copter: This endearing toy helicopterflies out from one’s hand when its shaft is spun rapidly, looking just like a dragonfly taking flight. It draws a gaggle of laughing children to give chase in bliss.

3. Kite-flying: The children run like a wind, towing their beloved kites and sending them high up to the infinite blue. The kite lines in their small hands are also symbolic of dreams that will take wing.

4. Firing Marbles: Roll up the sleeve, lower the chin, take an accurate aim, and flick the marble from the hand. The gleaming marbles tingle with childhood’s simple joy.

5. Lion Dance: The lively lion dance lends a boisterous, celebratory air to traditional festivals. This merry showpiece draws children’s attention the most.

image

Date of Issue : 20 January 2014

Finnish Post issued a stamp on Winter Greetings featuring Snowmen,  favorite of children..

The award-winning Finnish illustrator Janne Harju has designed a stamp depicting two snowmen, which is well suited for a variety of winter greetings.  Janne Harju has brought the snowman theme to life with the beautiful design.

This is how Janne Harju himself describes the feeling of the stamp, “The snowman and boy have spent a winter’s day on the sledging hill and also made snow lanterns. In the dark of night slowly floating snowflakes sparkle in the air. The crisp snow frost bites the snowmen's cheeks, but there is warmth in the air as they stop to admire the clear winter evening sky for the first stars.”

Here is a beautiful set of Christmas stamps issued by Finnish Post. This year, the Finnish Christmas stamp is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Itella Posti Oy published its new Finnish Christmas stamps, which are inspired by the nostalgic world of scrapbook pictures.

image

The EUR 0.65 stamp for Christmas greetings is the atmospheric Christmas Hug, featuring endearing child figures from an old, original post card. The background of the stamp glows warm and golden, creating the mood of candlelight.

The first-class stamp, Christmas Tree Boy, features an image photographed from of a scrapbook picture, in which a small boy in winter clothes carries home small Christmas trees in a blue-hued snowfall. The stamp sheet also has Priority labels designed to suit the mood of the stamps.

As a 2nd-class stamp, the traditional Angel can be used for various other greetings in addition to Christmas greetings. For most Finnish people, the angel image conjures up warm childhood memories.

2013 is a year of celebration of Finnish Christmas stamps, as the first ones were published 40 years ago on November 15, 1973. In the first Christmas stamps designed by Pirkko Vahtero, a reindeer pulls Santa in a sleigh through the snow.

An animated cartoon is a film for the cinema, television or computer screen, which is made using sequential drawings, as opposed to animations in general, which include films made using clay, puppet and other means.

Early examples of attempts to capture the phenomenon of motion into a still drawing can be found in paleolithic cave paintings, where animals are often depicted with multiple legs in superimposed positions, clearly attempting to convey the perception of motion.

The phenakistoscope (1832), zoetrope (1834) and praxinoscope (1877), as well as the common flip book, were early animation devices to produce movement from sequential drawings using technological means, but animation did not develop further until the advent of motion picture film.

Hi ! Here is a new greeting stamp from Danish Post “ Hello Every Body ”. This greeting stamp is a beautiful stamp to be used for Greeting mail. The one who receives the mail with this stamp  will feel a personal touch of the sender.

Stamp Art - Best Wishes

Høy  designed the motif for this year's issue in the "Stamp Art" series, which has been presenting new works by well known Danish artists since 1998. By dubbing her work "Best Wishes", she has created a piece that gives us a warm welcome.

Hello Everybody !
Jytte Høy's work on the stamp is closely related to the word - and text based works that she has been creating for many years. The text on the stamp "Hello Everybody" - sends a message to the recipient , who also sees his or her personal letters turned into a bearer of a message that reaches out to everyone.
One of Høy's hallmarks is that she examines the structures and logics of language that we usually take for granted. Her watchful eye for words and sentences has led to works of art in a range of genres and materials - including framed quotes and metre-high carved letters - that aim to bring both the artist and the observer closer to the innermost core of the language, and deploy it in her work, the language of art.

Hans Christian Andersen

image

Date of Issue : 2 September 2013

In 2012, for the first time ever, Post Danmark issued four stamps designed by a chinese artist. The stamps, the result of a competition among designers at China Post, were launched with a great fanfare in the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, in the presence of the World's press and stamp collectors all the way from China. Similar events were held in Beijing on the date of issue.

image
In continuation of the positive spirit of the partnership, Post Danmark is set to launch the next batch in the Hans Christian Anderson series. Batch two depicts the tales The Tinderbox (1835), The Flying Trunk (1839), The Sweethearts (1843) and The Little Match Girl (1845). All four stamps feature modern interpretations of the stories, with the actions being played out against a backdrop of urban skyscrapers. The four stamps are the result of a unique joint Danish-Chinese project involving designers from both countries.

The Tinderbox is on the school curriculum in China. The DKK 6.00 stamp depicts the famous scene with the soldier standing at the top of the hollow tree, ready to let himself slide down to the three dogs with big eyes, all while being watched by the ugly witch.

Of the four fairytales, The Flying Trunk is perharps the least well known among Chinese school children. The DKK 8.00 stamp features the merchants son rising up in his magical suitcase. The sweetheart's which also appears under the title Top and Ball, is an anthropomorphic fairytale, i.e inanimate objects become animate and display human emotions. Hans Christian Anderson is credited with "inventing" this kind of story as a genre, but the chinese also have a tradition of stories that include anthropomorphic aspects. In this sense, Andersen's fairytales have a kind of connectio to the chinese tradition. The Sweetheart's features on the DKK 12.50 stamp.

The DKK 14.50 stamp depicts a scene from The Little March Girl, another tale that is hugely popular in China. It's massive popularity is partly due to its tragic ending, in which the girl perishes from the Cold. The story of the poor girl who has to wander barefoot in the dark, cold streets and doesnt dare go home, she has a strong appeal for chinese people, man of whom have personal experience of the scourge of poverty. The tale reminds us how lucky we are if we have a warm home and a loving family. It's about the importance of appreciating each other in cold dark times.

Pos Malaysia and UNICEF have joined forces to create a special set of stamps to celebrate the abilities of children with disabilities. The artwork featured on each of the three stamps were created by children with disabilities in Malaysia within the nationwide “Colours of My World” art contest, organised by Kakikreatif, Pos Malaysia and UNICEF.

Children between the ages of 13 and 17 years old who have been diagnosed with a physical, sensory or developmental disability are invited to submit their original artwork to illustrate their life, as well as their dreams and hopes for themselves and for Malaysia.

The three winning artworks displayed on the new stamps by Pos Malaysia are:

One Malaysia by IntanSyafienazBinti Mohamad Bakhid; 17 years old, Sitiawan, Perak; Physical Disability (Progressive Muscular Dystrophy):

“As a disabled child, I always want to get along with all the different ethnic groups (in Malaysia) that have good health. There are many disabled children in Malaysia just like me. They need help. Different people have difference abilities and weaknesses.”

Friendship World by Lovira Jospely 14 years old, Penampang, Sabah; Sensory disability (Deaf):

“This is the story about the deaf world. We are Malaysians and nothing can differentiate us as long as we have the heart and hands to listen and express it. We live in a harmonious world in which I have many friends from different cultures. People always think that our world is silent. I am an active girl. I am always involved in performances. I can act, dance and sing. This is because my hands sign the lyrics and my facial expressions convey the melody. I have a dream to travel around Malaysia, because this country has given me encouragement and support to fulfil my dreams. Love the ones who are called OKU (people with disabilities). Do not put them in a special place, but hold their hands and guide them every step of the way. God made us different in many ways and we are “special”.

ColoursOf My World by Stephanie Tam Zhu Shin, 14 years old, Shah Alam, Selangor
Development disability (Autism):

“Life is like a picture. I need to paint it colourful. There are flowers, butterflies, bubbles and birds in my world. They represent the peacefulness I receive as I live in this world.

The angel in the middle represents the people around me who are friendly and full of love. I also love music because it brings peace and happiness. What a wonderful and colourful world.”
