Here are some new beautiful stamps to be released by Isle of Man in the New Year. The first issue of 2014 by Isle of Man will  be released on 6th January 2014. It is the Winter Flora Miniature Sheet .  This is a beautiful miniature sheet capturing the flora  seen in the winter months.The next issue by the Isle of Man released on the same day is an issue featuring the Island’s reach culture.

APEX 2014 -  Philatelic Exhibition at Thiruvananthapuram

Ananthapuri Philatelic Association,  is organising a Philatelic Exhibition at Thiruvananthapuram from 28th February to 2nd March 2014.   The venue will be YMCA Hall, Statue, Thiruvananthapuram.  The exhibition will remain open from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm on all days.

Great Start to the New Year...

As the diverse and exceptional cultural life of the Isle of Man is recognised by the 2014 Island of Culture 2014 festivities. It is the celebration of the arts with an issue featuring the work of Manx artist Juan Moore.

Island of Culture 2014 is a year of special events showcasing the incredibly rich cultural scene in the Isle of Man, from painting and poetry to music and theatre.

SHARJAH 2013

Federal National Council (FNC) Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr on Thursday opened Sharjah 2013 Stamp Exhibition, organised by Emirates Philatelic Association as part of the celebrations of the 42nd UAE National day. 

The five-day event, now in its fourth year, brought together more than 50 leading stamp exhibitors, including some 30 dealers who are  displaying some of their most valuable collections.

The exhibition encompasses a wide-reaching range of philately themes spanning two centuries, displaying some of the world’s most extraordinary and elusive stamps among the 128 exhibits. It chronicles milestones in the UAE’s four-decade history. Topics range from 19th century Egyptian postal stationery to the earliest days of postal aviation. “Philately is a pursuit enjoyed all around the world, bringing collectors together to exchange not only stamps but also ideas. It offers a unique way to look at our history,” said president of the Emirates Philatelic Association Abdulla Khouri.

 

 

 

New Pictorial cancellation from Germany

On May second , 2014, a new pictorial cancellation will be issued in 20535 Hamburg.The cancellation is featuring a  Salmon (Salmon salar) for the "Day of fish" during the philatelic exhibition NORDPOSTA 2014 at Hamburg.

  A Journey Through Africa

 

The Isle of Man Post Office issued  a miniature sheet showcasing the African pictures of renowned Island-based wildlife artist Jeremy Paul and a set of six stamps which features original artwork by Jeremy Paul “Big Cats” on 13 September 2013.

“Big Cats” is a term used to cover some of the most charismatic species of cat – these are the top predators .

  

They are powerful, we view them with awe and respect, we may fear them, but above all we are seduced by their beauty. All are in danger – mostly due to habitat loss, poaching and persecution. Most now inhabit a tiny fraction of their original range and many are confined to national parks and reserves. The issue also encompasses the 2013 SEPAC theme of wildlife represented by the tiger stamp.Both Big Cats and the Journey Through Africa issues showcase the work of the CITIES animal protection organization.

Birth of Prince George VII

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a very special delivery last week - and now the arrival of their son Prince George is to be commemorated with STG1 ($A1.68) stamps.

Isle of Man Post Office is to become the first postal administration to mark the third in line to the throne's birth as they release a sheet of eight stamps congratulating William and Kate.

With the inscription "We could not be happier", as the Duke said upon the birth of his son on Monday, the sheet includes four stamps showing the proud father and four of a smiling Kate.

A gold-foil special postmark with the words "It's A Boy" will be used to cancel the stamps when the postal tribute is released on August 21 with a limited numbered edition of 500.

 

New German stamp

Help for the Flood Victims with a  “Flood Relief 2013″

 

A new commemorative postage stamp by German post “Flood Relief 2013″ is destined to bring help to the people who were victims of the recent flood. It has a nominal value of 58 cents, with a premium of 42 cents.

German Finance Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schauble resolved as part of providing immediate assistance to the citizens affected by the flooding to issue a commemorative stamp with a premium. The immense scale of the flood disaster and the related need to provide help swiftly and with no red tape prompted the decision to bring out the commemorative.

The proceeds will go straight to helping the people affected in the various different regions in line with the slogan for commemorative postage stamps that feature the “+”: “Do good, and help – with stamps”.

Newspaper Headlines on stamps…

HI !

Here are new stamps from Isle of Man featuring  Newspaper  headlines of some important events  of the last few decades. The stamps are unique with an unusual theme and could be used in different Thematic Collections.

Isle of Man Post Office joined forces with The Times (of London) during their 225th anniversary year to celebrate many of the most momentous news stories making the headlines over the years. In the spirit of information sharing Isle of Man’s stamps feature a micro text panel telling the story of each historic event.

  

The issue also incorporates the Europa stamp for 2013 on the theme of Postal Vehicles and the 73p stamp commemorates 1973, marking the time, forty years ago, when the Isle of Man Postal Authority came into existence and became independent of the Royal Mail.

Other landmarks of history included in the issue are: the assignation of President Kennedy fifty years ago, the Moon Landings, the final flight of Concorde and HM The Queen’s famous royal visit, with Prince Philip, to China in 1986.

Isle of Man Post Office also commemorated the unforgettable England World Cup victory in 1966 as this year the Football Association celebrates its own 125th anniversary.

 

New Pictorial Cancellation from Germany

 

On July 20th 2013 a new pictorial cancellation in 61239 Obermörlen will be available. The cancellation is featuring a Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago) - Bird of the year 2013 in Germany.

On August 8th 2013 a new pictorial cancellation will be  issued at 29664 Walsrode in Germany.The cancellation is featuring a European goldfinch(Carduelis carduelis).
